The Story We Share - JHES's Community Expectations for Students
This year, we are excited to introduce The Story We Share, our reimagined and decolonized approach to the traditional school Code of Conduct. Rather than focusing primarily on rules, compliance, and consequences, The Story We Share focuses on the relationships, shared responsibilities, and values that help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school community.
Built around the shared values of Safety, Belonging, Respect, Responsibility, and Readiness, The Story We Share recognizes that creating a positive school community is something we do together. Students, staff, families, and visitors all have a role in living these values and contributing to a place where everyone can learn and belong.
Throughout the year, we will explicitly teach, model, practise, and revisit what these values look like in our classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and shared spaces. When challenges occur, our focus will be on accountability, repairing relationships, learning from mistakes, and helping students reconnect with their community.
